WEST COVINA – LAC Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Kochaon (dob 4/30/64) faces grand theft charges due to his alleged misdeeds. Falsifying records have led to felony charges which could land him a conviction sentence in local custody for nine years and eight months.
The deputy pleaded not guilty today to falsifying patrol records and misleading supervisors on work hours.
Reportedly, “Kochaon has been charged with seven felony counts in case KA118432: one count of grand theft and six counts of removing, destroying, or falsifying a public record while an official custodian of records.”
Also, prosecutors noted that at the time of the alleged crimes, Kochaon worked at the LACSD’s Parks Bureau, Southern Region.
He allegedly drove his vehicle to his Riverside home at the end of his shift. When he logged out at home during September and October 2016, the result was salary overpayment.
Subsequently, Kochaon allegedly made patrol logs claiming responses to calls for backup, while he was at home.
The DA announced, “The defendant is scheduled to return to court on July 26 for a pre-preliminary hearing. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the case.”
