SANTA BARBARA — With one felony count of insurance fraud, a former insurance agent recently faced the music.
Zachary Dale Jackson, 31, former insurance agent of Santa Maria, received three years of formal probation. In addition, his charge included time served and a restitution payment of $4,388.92.
He pled guilty to one felony count of insurance fraud after embezzling from his employer.
It started with a complain from the insurance compnay that Jackson worked for. As an agent, Jackson “falsified insurance documents related to his own personal insurance claim.”
Furthermore, he wrote checks to himself fromt he company’s account.
“I have zero tolerance for agents who violate the principles of their license. They rip off insurers or consumers for their own financial gain,” said Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones. “Dishonest agents reflect poorly on the more than 350,000 licensed agents and brokers, most of whom do their best to be honest and professional in their business practices in California.”
Authorities first arrested Jackson in November of 2017. Certainly he no longer has an agent license and “is barred from transacting the business of insurance.”
