CALEXICO BORDER – El Centro Border Patrol agents arrested a suspected drug smuggler who tossed meth over the international border.
First, agents observed a person in Mexico throw a ball-shaped package over the International Boundary Fence near the Calexico Port of Entry Saturday night at about 6 PM.
Next, the subject saw Border Patrol agents approaching and began to run.
Subsequently, a brief foot pursuit ensued. Then agents arrested their man. They recovered the neatly-wrapped package he’d received from Mexico.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents tested the package and the contents proved positive for the characteristics of methamphetamine. The total weight of the package totaled two pounds, with an estimated street value of $5,300.”
As a result, authorities took the 27-year-old-man, a United States citizen, into custody. They transported him to the Calexico Border Patrol station for processing.
Finally, Homeland Security Investigations received the suspect and the narcotics for further inspection.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is “the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation’s borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP keeps terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.”
Kudos go to El Centro Sector agents, who have seized more than 895.35 pounds of methamphetamine so far during the fiscal year 2018.
