Two dead in separate Vallejo shootings
Two men were shot to death in Vallejo eight hours apart from each other, police said. One man, a 30-year-old Vallejo man, was found dead Tuesday afternoon in a Vallejo alley, police said. Hours later police said a second man was found to have been shot to death in a driveway.
This would be Vallejo’s 16th and 17th homicide so far this year. It is also the third and fourth homicide in less than a month, including the November 17 shooting death of Officer Jim Capoot.
In the case of the first death, Vallejo police and other emergency personnel responded to a call at about 1 p.m. that a shooting victim was located in the 200 block of Stutz Alley, between Marin Street and Sonoma Boulevard, police said.
When emergency personnel arrived they tried to revive the victim but were unsuccessful. They pronounced the shooting victim, Michael Webster, dead at the scene, police said.
Police said a confrontation had apparently begun in the nearby 200 block of Illinois Street where Webster was shot, and as he was fleeing the area he collapsed in Stutz Alley.
Eight hours later at about 9:00 p.m., another man that had been shot died from his wounds in the driveway of a home in the 400 block of Grant Street. The man, who was not identified, reportedly had two gunshot wounds, police said. He also was lying next to an assault rifle.
No other details were revealed by police.
