Ventura County – There is no crime more likely to instill fear in the public than a home invader who enters while victims are in bed asleep.
That’s exactly what happened in the dead of night back in September of 2015 at a residence in Camarillo. According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Greg Gibson, on that night “two suspects woke up the victim and directed the victim to open his safe for them.”
That robbery netted the suspects “a large amount of U.S. currency, jewelry, and documents. ” Also, they tied the victim up and made good their escape. This lead to a long-running investigation by the VCSD East County Investigations Bureau and the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit. Consequently, that investigation ultimately pointed to 32-year-old Thousand Oaks resident William Hansen as the principal suspect.
Investigators identified Hansen as the likely culprit in the 2015 robbery. “Extensive investigation” reinforced detectives’ suspicions of his involvement. Therefore in July of 2018 they presented evidence to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. This resulted in the issuance of a warrant for his arrest on suspicion of First Degree Residential Robbery.
Because Hansen was incarcerated at that time, detectives waited until his release from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation on August 9th. They then served him with his new arrest warrant. They took him back into custody upon his release and transported him to jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
