Suspect Drove His Victim To Secluded Area
APTOS—Deputies with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff Office Arrested 46-year-old Salvador Ceja Rocha on suspicion of sexual assault after a woman he picked up told investigators that he attacked her in a secluded area of Santa Cruz County on Easter Sunday morning.
The attack reportedly occurred early Sunday morning, April 20, when Rocha, who worked nights for the Village Cab Taxi Service, picked up the women. Instead of driving the women to her intended destination Rocha drove her to a secluded area of Santa Cruz County near the forest area of Nisene Marks State Park and attempted to sexual assault her.
The woman struggled with Rocha but was able to exit the cab unharmed. Rocha drove away and left the women at the park. Santa Cruz County Sherriff’s Deputies contacted the female at the scene.
After a lengthy and thorough investigation, Deputes contacted and arrested Rocha on Monday May 5, for the assault and the attempt to commit a felony sex act. Rocha often worked nights for the cab company and investigators for the Sheriff’s Office believe that additional victims of still exist in the community. This was based on the contacts that Rocha had with various passengers in the area.
Rocha was transported to the Santa Cruz County Jail and booked on charges of assault with the attempt to commit a felony sex act. His bail has been set at $25,000.00.
