Rosamond Felon Arrested for Guns and Drugs Sales

ROSAMOND —  Deputies arrested a 42-year-old felon on Friday after he ran from them during a routine traffic stop.

Steven Wilson was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Mojave Jail on charges of maintaining a house for drug sales, possessing of a controlled substance for sales, transportation of a controlled substance,  possession of drug  paraphernalia,  possession of stolen  property,  felon in possession of a firearm,  felon in possession of ammunition, possession  of a firearm while committing a felony, and resisting arrest. His bail is currently set at $182,500.

At approximately 11:16 p.m. on Sept. 6, Kern County Sheriff’s deputies from the Rosamond substation said they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle suspected of reckless driving.

The vehicle stopped in the yard of a home in the 6200 block of Sweetser Road in the small eastern Kern County town of Rosamond.

“At that time the passenger of the vehicle jumped  out of and  ran from deputies on foot,” said Ray Pruitt, a sheriff’s spokesperson. ” As deputies were chasing the suspect, they witnessed  him throw an item onto the ground that was later determined to be suspected  methamphetamine.”

Pruitt said that Wilson was eventfully caught by deputies and was taken into custody without further incident.

A few hours later during their investigation, deputies obtained a search warrant for Wilson’s Rosamond residence.

“Deputies located and seized  two stolen firearms, more methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and other evidence related to the sales of drugs at the residence,” Pruitt said
