Police arrest suspect in botched carjacking
34-year-old Lawanna, a.k.a Traniece, Alexander appeared before Dept. 35 in the Santa Clara Superior Court on November 25. On Nov 1, 2013 the San Jose Police Department received a 9-1-1 call dispatching officers to the area of 40 S. Market Street. Officers received a report of an attempted car-jacking and strong arm robbery in progress.

Riding his bicycle, Matthew Bryan Erickson, while SJPD officers were driving near him, failed to yield at a stop sign near the Virginia and Delmas Avenue intersection, a violation under CVC 20802 (a). Officers turned on the red light and spot lot in order to signal him to stop. He was also spoken to by SJPD officers, who ordered him to stop, but he refused. He began to peddle faster in an attempt to avoid them.
