Suspected Drunk Driver Reportedly Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in Brea

An individual suspected of driving under the influence is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Brea.

According to a press release by the Brea Police Department, officers responded to the area of the 57 freeway and Lambert on the afternoon of November 28 to investigate reports of a possible drunk driver.

Responding officers located a vehicle matching the description against a retaining wall on the westbound lane of Lambert, east of 57, police said.

Shortly after officers made contact with the driver, an officer-involved shooting occurred, police said.

Police did not provide details regarding the circumstances of the shooting.

The driver of the vehicle was later pronounced deceased at an area hospital.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting, police said.
