“In the late evening hours of March 1st, dispatch received a report of a white male in dark clothing and gray hood attempting to take a locked bike from in front of a business on the 700 block of 5th st. Officers arrived on scene and located a man (later identified as John Johnson) behind the business.
Johnson had vice-grips, three screw drivers, a capped hypodermic needle, and a large car jack in his possession. He’s had many contacts with law enforcement, and this contact ended with him being arrested for prowling and attempted theft.
The public has many more eyes than we do and is able to see what we often don’t. If you see someone with multiple bicycles, cutting a lock and/or displaying behavior you feel is suspicious, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. Let’s all work together to make sure our city remains a safe and wonderful place to call home.”
