Etiwanda High School Principal Arrested on Charges of Sex With Student
CORONA – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a high school principal early Tuesday morning on charges of having sex with a former student from Etiwanda High School.
Deputies served a search warrant at 12:05 a.m., the home of Dr. Brian Garret Joseph, 38, who lived in the 14000 block of Parkwood Avenue. Corona is located in Riverside County. Reports are that Joseph was taken into custody without incident, and charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
Investigators learned of the relationship with the under-age student, who is from Fontana, by anonymous sources. The sheriff’s department was notified that the student and Joseph, 38, started the relationship when she was a minor and attending the high school. Joseph, who is married, resigned from his position at the Chaffey Joint Union High School District school on Tuesday after making bail. According to a school district teacher, Holton informed district staff members via email on Tuesday morning.
A school district official said Joseph, who was principal for four years, resigned voluntarily and a successor was named to take over as principal. Prior to being named principal, Joseph served as a vice-principal during his nine-year stint.
Upon learning of the alleged relationship, Chaffey Joint Union School District officials notified sheriff’s deputies at the Rancho Cucamonga station to report that Joseph might be involved in a sexual relationship with a former student. A release identified the sheriff’s Crimes Against Children Detail as involved in the investigation. The victim is now 18-years-old, said detectives.
Joseph was booked at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino and released on bail.
