Fairfield police investigate shooting as homicide
Fairfield police are investigating the early Sunday morning death of a 30-year-old man as a homicide.
According to the Daily Republic, police received calls at about 3 a.m. from residents in an area of Oceanic Court who said that they heard what sounded like gunshots and a vehicle leaving the area. Witnesses stated hearing a loud argument moments before they heard the possible gunshots, police said. They added witnesses reported seeing a dark, full-sized car leaving the scene, as well.
When police arrived, they found a man injured in the driveway of his home. The man, whom police have since identified as Brian Beaufort, appeared to have been suffering from gunshot wounds. He was treated by emergency medical personnel and taken to a local trauma center, where he later died.
On Monday, police identified Zavier A Pigues, 21 as the primary suspect in the shooting. He is considered armed and dangerous, and was last seen in a 1992 Mercedes 400 sedan with 20 inch chrome rims and California license 6GEV838. Pigues has several prior arrests for DUI and driving without a valid license.
If confirmed, this will be the city’s ninth homicide.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department Investigations Bureau at 707-428-7600.
