SACRAMENTO—With help from the public and social media, Sacramento Sheriff’s detectives have arrested a young Sacramento woman who is accused of robbing five banks since July 1, 2015.
Sheriff Spokesperson Sgt. Lisa Bowman said Dominique Marie Polani, 22, was captured in the Bakersfield area on the evening of July 17, 2015 after detectives were able to identify her and obtain a search warrant.
Detectives says Polani is connected to five recent bank robberies that began early this month and occurred within various financial institutions on Manzanita Avenue, El Camino Avenue, Fair Oaks Boulevard and Kiefer Boulevard in Sacramento. In each robbery, she passed a note to the bank teller demanding money and stating that she was armed.
Police received many tips from the public directing them to several individuals. From there, detectives were able to identify and confirm Polani as the bank robber. Authorities have not released the amount of money she allegedly stole.
Polani was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on robbery charges and is currently being held on $500,000 bail. The suspect’s booking photo is being withheld by detectives at this time. She also declined an interview request. Polani reported lives at the University Village apartments near Sacramento State.
“Sheriff robbery detectives would like to thank the public for their assistance in helping identify this robbery suspect and spreading the word on social media,” said Bowman said in a media release. “They realize the important role the public can hold in providing information leading to the identification or arrest of individuals who criminally affect our communities.”
