Teen Armed Bank Robber Suspect Arrested
A Cayucos teenager was arrested by Morro Bay Police for his part in an armed robbery of a local bank on Wednesday.
According to police, the teen was arrested after police connected him to the robbery. Because of his age the suspect’s name will not be released.
The suspect is being help in the county juvenile justice center.
Police say the suspect may also be connected to past robberies, including those of a cigarette store and a liquor store.
According to MBPD, they received a report regarding an armed robbery from an employee of Founders Community Bank located on Morro Bay Boulevard.
The caller said a male suspect wearing a hooded jacket with his face covered by a black bandanna entered the bank with what looked like a handgun tucked into his waistband.
The witness told police the suspect demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount.
Police searched the area and found a person matching the description sitting in a van.
They initiated a traffic stop and as a result of a search found a loaded handgun and money from the bank.
Investigators believe there may be one or more person also involved and would like anyone with information to contact them.
