Four Suspects Bagged for Fraudulent Credit Cards
San Luis Obispo police arrested four suspects for commercial burglary and possession of fraudulent credit cards on Wednesday.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the Game Stop at 487 Madonna around 4:40 pm in regards to a female suspect who attempted to purchase computer equipment using a fraudulent credit card. Prior to their arrival on scene, the suspect left the area driving a U-Haul van.
A patrol officer found a U-Haul in the area of Best Buy at the Madonna Plaza shopping center a short time later, being driven by suspect Jamie Miller, 41, of Los Angeles.
A subsequent records check of Miller revealed an outstanding felony warrant out of Los Angeles for burglary. After arresting Miller for the warrant, officers conducted a search of the U-Haul she was driving. During the search officers found numerous credit/gift cards in the center console which were later determined to be fraudulent.
Officers also found additional items of property including multiple video game systems, a treadmill, a patio set, and auto parts which were believed to be purchased with fraudulent gift cards. Several of these items were still in boxes and packaging.
During the investigation officers said they were able to identify three other suspects who were believed to be involved with Miller. The investigation led officers to a local hotel where they found Enrique Javier Oviedo, 46, of Santa Fe Springs, Michael Andrew Martinez, 30, of San Gabriel and Diana Bernice Herrera, 34, of West Covina.
Police say evidence found in the U-Haul and the hotel linked Oviedo, Martinez, and Herrera to their involvement in the possession of fraudulent credit/gift cards. Approximately 100 gift cards were recovered during this investigation in addition to numerous items of property.
All suspects were arrested and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail. Miller was booked for burglary, possession of stolen property, theft of access card account information, grand theft and a felony warrant. Her bail was set at $70,000.00
